STANDING STRONG
July 13, 2004
Dear Family and Friends in Christ,
Are you standing strong in the love and and Word of Christ? I
pray you have expanded your faith in God's divine plan.
I recently read Acts 9:1-30. I have read this passage of scriptures
many times, but this reading caused many questions. I pondered
what would have happened to Saul if Ananias had not obeyed God!
From my own experience with God I do believe Ananias would have
eventually done as God asked.
Have you had a call from God to witness to a family member, a
friend, a neighbor or co-worker? Or has God asked you to speak
a word to a total stranger? Are you concerned the person might
rebuff your efforts to share Gods word or Jesus's plan of salvation
for their life. Are you fearful the person will accuse you of
being a holy roller, a goody two shoes, a Christian fanatic or
too religious?
I was concerned about all of the above, but what encouraged me
to go forward was my belief that I could trust God.
When the Lord called Ananias, Ananias answered, behold, I am here,
Lord. The Lord gave Ananias a mission to carry out, yet Ananias
questioned God about Saul. It was well known that Saul was a persecuter
of the believers, and Ananias feared harm from Saul. But I like
what the Lord replied, he said Saul was a CHOSEN VESSEL. Then
Ananias trusting God to protect him, went to minister to Saul.
The next time the Holy Spirit nudges you to take a leap of faith,
don't hesitate. Remember someone was bold and persistent about
witnessing to us. Where would we be if someone had refused to
minister to us. I thank God for all the people who took a stand
and never gave up on me.
Until next time, witness to each person God puts on your heart,
for you might find they have been waiting for you all along.
Matthew 5:10-12 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness'
sake: for their's is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when
men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner
of evil against you falsely for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceedingly
glad for great is our reward in heaven: for so persecuted they
the prophets which were before you.
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived
that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled: and
they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. Acts
4:13.
Love
and Prayers,
Alma
